“Squash” Out Hunger

We’ve all carved pumpkins before…but who has dressed a squash?!? Ask each guest to bring along a squash and a non-perishable food item such as a can of soup or macaroni and cheese. After your group has completed this fun activity, donate the food and decorated squash to a shelter or soup kitchen in your area.

Supplies:

• A variety of squash and gourds
• Art supplies: construction paper, markers, scissors, glue, googly eyes, feather boas, fabric, etc.

Directions:

1. Pass out a squash to each willing participant.
2. Offer art supplies to all and let your guests put their creativity to use.
3. Hold a contest and give awards for the best costume, most life-like squash, scariest squash, most unique outfit, etc.
