Springtime Butterflies

These bright spring butterflies would be a great addition to any nursing home décor. Ask your party guests to make one and then take a field trip to donate these colorful signs of spring!

Supplies:

• Coffee filters (basket-type filters, not cone-shaped)
• Food coloring
• Eye dropper
• Pipecleaners, clothespin
• Plastic cups for mixing colored water

Directions:

1. Mix water and food coloring together in cups.
2. Give each child a filter folded into fourths
3. Using eyedropper, have each child choose colors to drop onto filter
4. Unfold filters to ½ fold and lay flat to dry
5. When the filter is dry and still folded in half, pinch it in the middle and twist a pipe cleaner around leaving 2 antennae at the top. If using a clothespin, scrunch the filter onto the pin through the opening.
