Gingerbread People

Supplies:

• Several brown grocery bags
• Crayons, markers or colored pencils
• Scissors
• Glue, tape or staples
• Buttons, yarn, pom-poms, paper scraps
• Hole punch
• Festive yarn or ribbon

Directions:

1. Begin by cutting the grocery bags into 3 equal strips starting at the top opening cutting along the bottom and up the other side. Each bag should yield at least 3 4 to 5 inch wide strips. (You may wish to do this step in advance of your party to save time.)
2. Distribute one strip to each guest. Begin folding each strip accordion style in even rectangles about 3 to 4 inches wide.
3. Draw a gingerbread person on the top of your accordion book with arms and legs spread making sure that the arms reach each vertical side of the rectangle so that they will connect.
4. Cut the Gingerbread person out. This may require an adult due to the thickness of the paper.
5. Once you pull your gingerbread people apart, you should have a chain connected at the hands. Decorate your people with crayons, markers, buttons, and scraps of paper or fabric.
6. You can leave the chain as is, or hole-punch the ends and add a string of ribbon or yarn to create a holiday garland!
